I don’t think it’s a huge secret that I tend to scoff at any and everything Anonymous does. I mean, really? A bunch of computer hackers who won’t even show their faces? I mean, if that’s what makes you feel like you’re doing something…
When I was in New York, my friends commented that I was “very establishment.” It wasn’t a criticism (at least I don’t think there was any implicit criticism involved), but it’s true. I mean, I want to work for the federal government of the United States. I’m applying for jobs at a place with lower approval ratings than Charlie Sheen.
So I suppose my scoffing at Anonymous can be attributed to that. Well, that and I think if you’re going to take such a bold stance on anything, it shouldn’t be about MegaUpload being taken down. C’mon, people, guns are still legal, we refuse to tax the rich, and the United States puts more people to death than all but four other countries in the world!
I’m a big proponent of “pick your battles,” and maybe I just criticize people when they pick smaller fights than I do.
