Dear Jobs,
Hi. I will have two degrees in Studies About Things and Politics in two months. I would like for you to give me money in exchange for my time.
Please love me, Ryan

Thoughts on the Michigan Primary As They Happen
Because my state can only stay relevant in the political spectrum for so long. Come November, Michigan’s results will matter much less compared to Ohio, Virginia, Florida, etc., all sorts of states that aren’t bleeding electoral votes every census.
As of right now, 69% of precincts are reporting. Rick Santorum would like it if I told you he is opposed to everything related to the...

A Plea from a Michigan Democrat
If you are a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat, a I’m-still-not-over-Jimmy-Carter-losing-to-Ronald-Reagan-in-1980-even-though-I-was-born-a-decade-later Democrat, and if you live in Michigan, please, please listen to me:
Don’t get involved in the Republican primary today.
Yes, I know that Michigan is an open primary system. I know it would be an absolute delight to see someone as noxious to...

Alli and I saw "The Woman in Black" today.
By the end of the movie, we were both clutching each other. I was peeping out from behind her hair, and she had buried her face in her scarf. When it got to the scary bits, I just closed my eyes and waited for her to jump so I knew I could open them again.

A Few Things About Michigan Politics
So the Michigan GOP primary is surprisingly hot news right now, and while I smile with a certain smugness reserved only for talking about how your toddler is fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese whenever I see us in the news, I am continually annoyed with misstatements about America’s High Five, and I am going to attempt to correct them.
Mitt Romney is Michigan’s favorite son. An LA...

The Charm's Wound Up
The set is struck, the lights are down, the actors have changed into their street clothes, and exit Macbeth, stage left (hopefully pursued by a bear).
223 people came to see the show over four days, including 60 people this afternoon. Sundays are typically slow days for Roial Players, and dramas usually draw smaller crowds. I had fears nobody would come see the show, and far and away my...

The West Wing, "Shibboleth"
CJ Cregg: They sent me two turkeys. The more photo-friendly of the two gets a Presidential pardon and a full life at a children's zoo. The runner-up gets eaten.
President Bartlet: If the Oscars were like that, I'd watch.

Once more unto the breach.
Tomorrow we close Macbeth, and I have a lot of capital-F Feelings about it, not the least assisted by the fact that my roommates and I talked about going out to the bar for one beer and then only one could actually go, which has left me annoyed.
Macbeth is my 21st production. I have acted: I have had bit parts, medium parts, and starring roles. I have done tech: I have spray painted eggshells, I...

Production Week
I have been so exhausted this week. It probably doesn’t help that most of my midterms (well, one of my midterms) coincided with the production of Macbeth. It also doesn’t help that my theater group can’t get into our theater until late in the evening, so our dress rehearsals ran from 7:00 until midnight.
But last night we opened. We’re a very rag-tag theater group —...

Sleep from 5:30 AM to 10:30 AM (maybe)
Write a paper proposal from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM

Come ON, NBC
I’ve always been really good to you. (Well, always being since I first started watching The Office in 2009.) I watch the shows I love loyally. I’ve bought most of the seasons of The West Wing and The Office on DVD — that’s not cheap!
So why, WHY in God’s name, did you bump Parks and Recreation until APRIL? I DON’T EVEN WATCH COMMUNITY, I JUST WANT PAWNEE!

I think a more prurient author would look beyond the failures as mere incompetence on the part of officials and ask the more pressing question, Why did they fail?
Mind you, this is a reading critique of a book called National Security in the Obama Administration, so discussions of a lascivious nature have no place unless Bill Clinton is involved.
Or maybe it’s the fact that it’s...

MACBETH
Methought I heard a voice cry ‘Sleep no more! Macbeth does murder sleep’, the innocent sleep, Sleep that knits up the ravell’d sleeve of care, The death of each day’s life, sore labour’s bath, Balm of hurt minds, great nature’s second course, Chief nourisher in life’s feast,— LADY MACBETH
What do you mean? MACBETH Still it cried...
